When Melinda gets home she started researching about it, she figurate up this lady was Anna Fowler dead 20 years ago, Anna had a daughter called Lanie who was like 5 years old when her mother died. Melinda returned to the woods where she first saw Anna. There she got to find an old car, Anna´s car there Melinda find an old Doll inside the car with whoven letters that said: '''''For my sweet Lanie'''''. Melinda now need to find out why this ghost cannot find some peace and cross over.

When Melinda gets home she started researching about it, Jim searched for the license plate records and requested 911 calls from the area and discovered that the lady was Anna Fowler, who died 20 years ago. Anna had a daughter, named Lane, who was around 5 years old when her mother died. Melinda returned to the woods where she first saw Anna to try and bring closure to Anna and Lanie and discover the truth. Back at the scene of her accident, Anna remembers what happened the night she died and reveals that her husband abused her and that is why she left with daughter. Melinda tries to reason with Lane and get her to speak with her mother, but Lane is not interested. Melinda is at home with Jim and she sees Anna once more who tells her it is happening. Melinda rushes to Lane's house and sees Lane and Todd arguing through the window, she tries to help but Lane turns her down. Melinda pleads with Brad to go to Lane to help her and he apologizes to Anna and asks for her forgiveness, which she does not give him. Brad then goes to Lane and explains what happened between him and her mother, but Lane does not want to hear about it. Lane then goes to Melinda and asks if her mother is there, then explains that she is leaving Todd. Anna finally saved her relationship with her daughter and found her peace to cross over.

A Vicious Cycle is the seventh episode of the second season, and the twenty-ninth overall episode, of the CBS series, Ghost Whisperer, originally premiering on November 3, 2006. The episode was written by Jeannine Renshaw and directed by Eric Laneuville, and recieved a total of 11.12 million viewers.

Melinda and Jim's first camping trip is interrupted as Melinda helps the ghost of a woman who left her husband and young daughter. Before the woman can cross over, Melinda must find the woman’s daughter and help her to learn the truth about her parent’s past in order for her to be safe.
